The Westgate Entertainment District shooting happened on 20 May 2020.[1] The shooting took place near the Westgate Entertainment District.[1][2]

Shooting[edit source | edit]

Three people were wounded, one critically.[1][2] The shooting was over by the time police arrived and the gunman was taken into custody.[1][2]

Victims[edit source | edit]

The victims were a 19-year-old man who was critically wounded, a 16-year-old girl who was taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening condiction and a 30-year-old woman who did not require hospitalization.[3]

Suspect[edit source | edit]

The shooter was a 20-year-old man from Peoria, Arizona.[3] Police said that he shot the first two victims outside a restaurant, then fired shots to threaten people before shooting his third victim.[3] He filmed the attack with a cellphone in his left hand and shooting with his right.[3] He surrendered without incident to the first police officers to arrive at the scene.[3] He was taken to a Maricopa County, Arizona jail and charged with 16 felonies.[4]
