2021 FC Barcelona presidential election
The 2021 FC Barcelona presidential election is the upcoming election which will take place for electing the 41st President of the club. Initially the election was to be held on 24th January, 2021 but was later postponed due to the recent increased cases of COVID-19 in Spain. Carles Tusquets is the current interim President of the club who took over from Josep Maria Bartomeu after the latter resigned on 27th October, 2020. However, Tusquets is not contesting the elections. 9 pre candidates ran for the presidency. These include former club President Joan Laporta, Victor Font, Emili Rousaud, Toni Freixa, Jordi Farre, Augusti Benedito, Xavi Vilajona, Lluis Fernadez, and Pere Riera.
In order to advance to the main election the candidates had to collect a minimum of 2,257 signatures from club members. Laporta, Font, and Freixa made the threshold and have advanced to the main election.
Potential candidacies[edit source | edit]
Laporta quoted "I would very much like Guardiola to come back but now he is at City and it is a decision that Pep should take. He is a benchmark for Barcelona and many Catalans would like him to train Barça again". 
Victor Font aiming to build a new Barça that focuses more on the youth La Masia quoated "I’m in tune with Xavi about the project, and personally, I love talking to him about football, and I hope he can lead our footballing project".
